EU Approves Temporary Trade Relief for Armenian Products
EP President, Irish Minister of State sign measure on Temporary trade-liberalisation for Armenian products
The European Parliament and Irish Presidency have signed a temporary trade liberalization measure aimed at supporting Armenia's economy amid recent trade restrictions imposed by Russia.
Adopted by the EU Council on September 24, the measure will suspend import duties on approximately 80% of Armenian exports to the European Union, covering a broad range of products including select agricultural goods. The preferential arrangement will remain in effect for two years.
The agreement aligns with the EU's Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with Armenia and is designed to strengthen trade flows between the two parties. The measure includes safeguard provisions to protect EU producers if imports cause market disruption. The temporary measures come with specific conditions governing the preferential access.
