Armenian students win five medals at International Mathematical Olympiad in Shanghai

Armenia's team earned one silver medal, four bronze medals, and one honorable mention at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad in Shanghai, competing among 666 students from 120 countries.

Hayk Manukyan, a 10th-grade student at Quantum College, won the silver medal. Bronze medalists included fellow 10th-graders Tigran Hakheyan and Aren Grigoryan from Quantum College, plus 11th-grader Sarkis Arakelyan and 12th-grader Arsen Makaryan from A. Shahinyan Physics and Mathematics Specialized School. Arman Asatryan, also from A. Shahinyan, received an honorable mention.

Armenian placed 43rd in team standings. The delegation was led by coaches Grigor Kerobyan of WorldQuant and Narek Khandanyan of Krisp. Armenia's performance improved from last year's 66th IMO in Australia, where the team won three bronze medals and three honorable mentions.
