An international research team including Armenian astrophysicist Professor Vahagn Gurzadyan has published a groundbreaking study in Nature confirming Einstein's general theory of relativity with record precision. The study, titled "LARES-2 Satellite Measures Frame-Dragging Effect Around the Earth," reports the most accurate measurement to date of frame-dragging—a phenomenon in which Earth's rotation distorts spacetime around it.

Gurzadyan, who heads the Center for Cosmology and Astrophysics at the Yerevan Physics Institute, participated in the international LARES mission involving the Italian and European space agencies. Data from the LARES-2 satellite, launched in 2022, achieved a measurement precision of one part in a thousand—a tenfold improvement over previous solar system measurements. The findings constrain alternative gravity theories and have practical applications for geophysics and Earth's gravitational field studies. The research has been covered by Scientific American, Ars Technica, and international news outlets.
