Armenian Qanun Player Advances in International Music Awards
Qanun player Marianna Gevorgyan reaches final round of ICMA Awards

Marianna Gevorgyan, an Armenian qanun player, has advanced to the finals of the InterContinental Music Awards' "Best Musician" category. The Los Angeles-based competition drew over 3,500 musicians from more than 100 countries, with Gevorgyan as the sole Armenian finalist. The award recognizes musicians based on cultural and continental representation.
Gevorgyan is a solo performer with the Tagharan Ensemble of Ancient Music at Armenia's National Centre of Chamber Music, named after Komitas. She previously won the Global Icon Awards distinction in 2025 and claimed the Grand Prize at the World Folk Vision competition in 2020, among other international accolades.
The InterContinental Music Awards provides independent and professional musicians with international exposure and recognition opportunities.
