Armenian PM and President discuss election results, priorities of the new government
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with President Vahagn Khachaturyan following Armenia's 2026 parliamentary elections to discuss the outcome and the incoming government's priorities. President Khachaturyan praised the elections as a democratic milestone, noting they demonstrated functioning institutions and public participation. Pashinyan's Civil Contract party secured a parliamentary majority.
Passinyan attributed the election results to public support for the government's peace agenda, as well as investments in education, infrastructure, and social reforms. He acknowledged concerns raised during the campaign, particularly regarding judicial reform and anti-corruption efforts, and pledged to accelerate these initiatives.
The prime minister also highlighted the need to improve the electoral system and increase transparency in political party and media financing. He reaffirmed the government's economic target of 6 percent annual growth and noted increased economic activity following the elections as a sign of renewed confidence.
