Armenian Film Society London Opens Call for Western Armenian Cinema

The Armenian Film Society London has launched an international open call for films in or about Western Armenian to premiere at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) as part of the Armenian Film Festival London. The initiative will become a permanent festival strand celebrating Armenian as a creative language through cinema.

The program will showcase films exploring Western Armenian language, dialects, culture and literature, accompanied by filmmaker Q&As and panel discussions. Organizers also plan a publication, podcast series and masterclass on poetry filmmaking in the language.

Filmmakers may submit works completed between 2021 and 2026 in any genre or length that feature Western Armenian or explore its culture and lived experience. The festival particularly welcomes submissions from British Armenian filmmakers. The submission deadline is September 1, 2026, with selections announced mid-September. The festival runs December 3-6, 2026 at the ICA.
