Armenian Deputy FM, UN official discuss regional peace, COP17 preparations
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan met with United Nations Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo on July 13 in New York to discuss regional stability and development. Abisoghomonyan emphasized Armenia's commitment to strengthening peace in the South Caucasus, highlighting transport infrastructure and regional connectivity projects as key to economic growth.
The officials also addressed UN reform efforts, with the Armenian official stressing the importance of maintaining effective UN bodies focused on development cooperation, human rights, and conflict prevention. Additionally, they reviewed preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which Armenia will host in October 2024. The meeting included broader discussions on international security matters.
