Armenian Artist Ani Israyelyan Explores Identity Through Painting
Ani Israyelyan immortalizes the homeland on canvas

Painter Ani Israyelyan recently concluded a solo exhibition titled "Homeland" at Yerevan's Pyunik Development Center, showcasing her commitment to immortalizing Armenian culture on canvas. Israyelyan studied under collage artist Martiros Badalyan before graduating from the Panos Terlemezyan State College's painting department. She works primarily in realistic style using oils and acrylics, though she experiments with watercolors and other techniques. The artist creates primarily at night from home, mentally composing works before transferring them directly to canvas without preliminary sketches. Israyelyan draws inspiration from music, literature, weather and daily experiences. Her art centers on a consistent theme: preserving Armenian identity through depictions of cultural monuments, architectural heritage, and traditional rug and carpet patterns.
