Armenian Art Therapists Publish First Field Textbook
Two voices, one field: Shaping art therapy in Armenia

Two art therapists, Karine Khachaturyan and Tatev Harutyunyan, have published "Basics of Art Therapy: Art as a Path to Healing," the first comprehensive textbook on art therapy written in Armenian. The book, completed after two years of collaborative work, addresses a significant gap in professional Armenian-language literature on the subject.
Harutyunyan, who earned her master's degree in art therapy from Munich Academy of Fine Arts, currently practices in psychiatric and psychosomatic settings in Germany. Khachaturyan, based in Armenia, has long been involved in creative therapeutic work. Both emphasized that writing in Armenian was essential, as art therapy's connection to inner expression and cultural identity cannot be fully conveyed through translation.
The textbook serves as a professional guide for psychologists and psychotherapists while remaining accessible to general readers interested in art's therapeutic applications.
