Armenia's government plans to publish new Constitution draft
Armenia may publish draft of new Constitution in coming weeks, Justice Minister says
Armenia's Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan announced that the government is preparing to publish a draft Constitution within the coming weeks, following discussions among the ruling Civil Contract party. The minister said the government is collecting feedback from partners, a process expected to take one to two weeks, before deciding whether to release the text publicly.
Galyan noted the draft remains unpublished because it is not yet finalized and requires collective decision-making. She acknowledged that the ruling party's 61 parliamentary seats fall short of the constitutional majority needed to independently pass amendments. However, she stated that constitutional reform remains a priority for the government since the 2018 revolution, and that public discussion and input from political parties will shape next steps in the process.
