Sununu's Mining Investment Draws Scrutiny in NH Senate Race
Sununu: Gold, greed and the Granite State

A New Hampshire Senate race has centered on Republican John Sununu's financial stake in Anglo Asian Mining, a company operating in Azerbaijan-controlled territories in Artsakh. According to Sununu's Senate financial disclosures, the investment — worth up to $5 million — is his largest single disclosed holding.
The company expanded operations following Azerbaijan's 2023 military offensive, which displaced over 150,000 Armenians. Critics argue the mining operations profit from ethnic cleansing of Armenian lands. Democratic U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, Sununu's opponent, is endorsed by the Armenian National Committee of America and has supported accountability measures regarding Azerbaijan's actions.
The disclosure has become a focal point in the competitive race that may influence congressional control.
