Armenia Reduces Road Taxes to Boost Transit Freight
Armenia moves to boost transit freight transport through its territory
Armenia's government has approved a measure designed to increase international freight transit through the country by reducing road tax obligations for certain foreign-registered trucks.
Under the initiative, heavy-duty vehicles registered in eligible countries will qualify for reduced road tax rates when transiting through Armenia or conducting transport operations on Armenian territory. Trucks operating under the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Permit system and the European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT) multilateral permit system will be fully exempt from Armenia's road tax.
Government officials expect the policy to stimulate transit freight transportation and strengthen Armenia's position within international transport corridors. The move aims to enhance the country's reputation as a reliable transit and logistics hub while improving regional connectivity and facilitating international trade flows.
