Armenia receives first shipment of NVIDIA GPUs for AI megaproject
First batch of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs arrives in Armenia as Firebird AI megaproject enters implementation phase
Armenia has received the first batch of 1,792 NVIDIA Blackwell graphics processing units for the Firebird AI project, a major technology initiative marking the transition into implementation phase. The shipment arrived at Zvartnots International Airport, welcomed by Armenia's Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan and Firebird AI co-founder Alexander Yesayan.
The first phase will establish a state-of-the-art AI data center in Hrazdan with a capacity of approximately 18 megawatts, utilizing 6,144 total Blackwell processors. The $500 million investment features a closed-loop water-cooling system designed for high energy efficiency. A planned second phase aims to deploy 42,000 additional GPUs with $4 billion in investment, potentially positioning Armenia among the world's top five countries for AI computing infrastructure.
The government partnership includes a $25 million program providing Armenian startups, universities, and research teams access to high-performance computing resources for five years.
