Armenia Presents AI Strategy at UN-Backed Geneva Forums

Armenia's First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gevorg Mantashyan participated in a series of United Nations-backed international conferences in Geneva from July 6-8, focusing on artificial intelligence governance and digital transformation.

Mantashyan presented Armenia's strategic priorities for AI development during the Global Dialogue for AI Governance, emphasizing responsible governance, cybersecurity, data protection, and human oversight. He highlighted the country's initiatives to build an AI ecosystem, including the Ministry's AI Virtual Institute and projects like Eleveight AI and Firebird AI. Armenia aims to become a "Garden of AI Factories" through infrastructure investment, talent development, and international partnerships.

During the visit, Mantashyan also met with Switzerland's AI House initiative to discuss cooperation opportunities and preparations for next year's AI Impact Summit. UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned that AI advancement is outpacing governance mechanisms, calling for mandatory safety testing and human control in critical sectors.
