Armenia Participates in PISA Assessment for First Time
Armenia participated in the PISA international assessment of learners for the first time.
Armenia participated in the PISA 2025 international student assessment for the first time, joining 91 countries in evaluating educational outcomes. Approximately 7,000 students from 295 Armenian schools were assessed in reading, mathematics, and natural sciences during March-May 2025.
Education Minister Zhanna Andreasyan presented the results, noting that Armenia's participation fulfills a long-standing state policy goal. She stated the assessment reveals both existing educational system challenges and evidence that recent reforms are progressing positively.
Key findings highlight the need to increase student motivation and improve school management. The minister emphasized that results should inform further policy planning and professional discussion among educators. Since participating students largely studied under the former education standard, Andreasyan described the results as baseline data for comparing future outcomes after implementation of the new state education standard.
