Armenia Faces Pressure Over EU Integration, Google Maps Dispute

Russia's Foreign Ministry confirmed it warned Armenia that advancing EU accession may result in termination of bilateral agreements covering natural gas, petroleum, and diamonds—benefits granted under Eurasian Economic Union membership. Russian officials argue Armenia cannot simultaneously enjoy EAEU economic advantages while pursuing closer EU ties. State Duma Deputy Andrey Lugovoy proposed broader reassessment of Armenia's preferential treatment, including subsidized gas and brandy import arrangements.
Separately, reports emerged that Google Maps relabeled the Armenian village of Tigranashen with an Azerbaijani name, displaying it as part of Azerbaijan. Opposition lawmaker Kristine Vardanyan criticized the change and linked it to Armenia-Azerbaijan border negotiations, accusing the government of withholding information from the public.
