Armenia elected Vice-Chair of UNESCO World Heritage Committeeβs 49th session
Armenia has been elected Vice-Chair of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee's 49th session, scheduled for Istanbul in June 2027. The decision was announced at the conclusion of the Committee's 48th session in Busan, South Korea, held July 19-29.
Armenia's delegation, led by Permanent Delegate Aram Hakobyan, participated in discussions on cultural and natural heritage preservation. During the session, 25 new properties were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Hakobyan presented Armenia's priorities for chairing the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, scheduled for October in Yerevan. The delegation included representatives from Armenia's Ministries of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, and Environment.
