Armenia Approves U.S. Strategic Partnership Framework Agreement
Armenian Government okays ratification of U.S. strategic agreement on TRIPP project
Armenia's government has approved a draft law to ratify a Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation with the United States regarding the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project. The agreement, signed in June 2026, aims to promote peace, stability and economic development in the South Caucasus through expanded transport links and trade infrastructure.
Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said the accord will be submitted to Armenia's Constitutional Court for review before proceeding to the National Assembly for ratification. Under the framework, Armenia and the U.S. will establish the TRIPP Development Company, with the U.S. holding 74% of shares initially and Armenia 26%. Armenia's stake would increase to 49% if the partnership extends beyond the initial 49-year term.
Mirzoyan emphasized that Armenia retains full sovereignty over border management, customs, taxation and other public functions, with some operational services potentially provided by private operators.
