Armenia and Iran Discuss Trade and Energy Cooperation

Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan met with Iran's Ambassador Khalil Shirgholami on August 25 to explore expanded economic ties between the two countries. The discussion focused on increasing trade, investment, and infrastructure development, with emphasis on boosting Armenian exports to Iranian markets and leveraging the Eurasian Economic Union-Iran free trade agreement.

Papoyan outlined several priority areas for cooperation, including joint production, energy, and logistics. The sides also discussed potential long-term supplies of diesel fuel and liquefied gas, as well as improvements to border procedures. Officials stressed the need to translate high-level political dialogue into concrete economic results and strengthen business connections between the nations.
