ARF Report Examines Post-Election Tensions in Armenia
Pluralism, governance and post-election challenges

A briefing note from the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun International Secretariat analyzes political developments in Armenia following June 7, 2026 parliamentary elections. The report documents increased political polarization, escalating rhetoric targeting opposition figures, and legal disputes surrounding election results.
According to the briefing, criminal investigations, administrative measures, travel restrictions and statements by senior officials have raised concerns about democratic governance and equal application of law. The report notes at least 125 criminal proceedings and 248 individuals prosecuted in election-related cases.
International observers from ODIHR and OSCE reported a highly polarized environment with allegations of pressure on public employees and administrative advantages for incumbents, while assessing election day procedures positively overall. The briefing examines ongoing debates regarding Azerbaijan negotiations, constitutional reform, and connections between domestic politics and regional security.
