ARF Bureau condemns legal proceedings against Catholicos Karekin II
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau has issued a statement condemning criminal proceedings initiated against His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II and senior Armenian Apostolic Church clergy by Armenian government authorities.
The ARF characterized the legal action as an "unprecedented" attack on the church, arguing it violates constitutional principles of church-state separation and freedom of conscience. The statement asserts that matters of diocesan administration and canon law fall exclusively within the church's jurisdiction and should not be subject to state interference.
The ARF called on Armenian judicial and law enforcement authorities to uphold constitutional principles and urged the diaspora to maintain unity in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church and its leadership.
