Restoration work at Amberd Fortress has yielded significant archaeological finds, according to Armenia's Preservation Service. Excavators discovered a human skeleton on the outer wall of the fortress's inner tower, with approximately 90 percent of the bones intact. Dental analysis suggests the individual was a young adult. The dig also uncovered game pieces from tama, a medieval board game similar to checkers, offering insight into leisure activities during the Middle Ages. A coin bearing the likeness of Queen Tamar was also recovered and is considered an artifact of exceptional historical importance. Ongoing restoration and archaeological work at the fortress is expected to reveal additional details about the medieval stronghold's history and daily life.
