In memory of Vrejoohie Bedrossian Armenian
Vrejoohie Bedrossian Armenian, a prominent figure in the Washington, D.C. Armenian community, died September 13 at age 88, surrounded by family. Born in Jaffa, Palestine in 1938 to genocide survivors, she fled with her family to Beirut in 1948, then to Philadelphia in 1956. She worked at the National Gallery of Art and taught Armenian language and culture at local Armenian schools for decades. Armenian was active in the Armenian Youth Federation, Armenian Relief Society, and Hamazkayin Armenian Educational & Cultural Society. She is survived by her husband Garo, four children, eight grandchildren, and extended family. A funeral service is scheduled for September 21 in Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Soorp Khatch Armenian Apostolic Church, St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church, or the ANCA Endowment Fund.
