Singer Varduhi Khachatryan Brings Armenian Music to European Stages

Varduhi Khachatryan, a mezzo-soprano based in Geneva, has spent two decades integrating Armenian classical music into Europe's established concert scene. The singer, whose father was a soloist at Armenia's National Opera, made her own debut in the same theater performing in "Arshak II." After relocating to Switzerland, Khachatryan founded the Avetis Association and partnered with Victoria Hall to present annual cultural programs. Recognizing that European audiences typically attend classical concerts rather than standalone Armenian events, she developed a strategy to embed Armenian repertoire within the established classical music tradition. Her career has included collaborations with internationally renowned musicians including Plácido Domingo and Andrea Bocelli. Khachatryan studied at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory and pursued postgraduate studies under professor Gohar Gasparyan.
