Russia to restrict imports of dairy products from Armenia starting July 27
Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance announced restrictions on dairy product imports from Armenia effective July 27, 2026, following inspections of Armenian processing facilities conducted July 14-21.
The Russian agency cited violations including inadequate product traceability, deficient veterinary certification procedures, and weak risk management systems. Inspectors claimed to have found milk from infected livestock used in exported dairy products and alleged that raw materials from outside the Eurasian Economic Union were used despite previous assurances otherwise.
Rosselkhoznadzor stated Armenia lacks sufficient systems to verify the origin and safety of milk from individual farmers and identified laboratory infrastructure shortcomings. The agency said the import restrictions aim to prevent entry of dangerous animal diseases into Russia and protect consumers from unsafe products. Similar violations were recorded during 2023 and 2024 audits.
