Pashinyan warns unresolved trade dispute with Armenia could mark ‘beginning of the end’ for EAEU
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has warned that unresolved trade restrictions affecting Armenian exports could destabilize the Eurasian Economic Union, calling the issue a bloc-wide problem rather than one affecting Armenia alone.
Speaking after a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pashinyan said the two leaders discussed trade barriers on Armenian goods entering the Russian market. He stressed that Armenia has the right to pursue alternative foreign and economic policies, citing the country's recent parliamentary election results.
"If this issue is not resolved quickly, this will mark the beginning of the end of the EAEU," Pashinyan said, describing the bloc as "paralyzed and not functioning." He added that Armenia has no plans to leave the Russia-led economic union but emphasized the country must maintain strategic alternatives across all sectors.
