The news outlet attributed the withdrawal to pressure from Azerbaijan's foreign policy adviser, who contacted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office after Baku formally condemned the Cabinet decision.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, who introduced the measure, denied Netanyahu's involvement but did not explain the vote's removal. The distinction matters: a Cabinet resolution is reversible policy, while a Knesset vote would constitute binding state recognition. With the parliament in summer recess and elections scheduled for October, the vote is unlikely to advance soon. Israel supplies roughly 69 percent of Azerbaijan's major arms imports, according to SIPRI data.
