Hayk Konjoryan elected Deputy Speaker of Armenian Parliament
Hayk Konjoryan, a member of Armenia's ruling Civil Contract faction, has been elected Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. In a secret ballot vote, Konjoryan received 63 votes in favor and 28 against. The opposition Armenia faction abstained from voting, while the Strong Armenia faction voted against his candidacy. Konjoryan will serve as one of several Deputy Speakers in the parliament. The election reflects the current political composition of Armenia's legislature, where Civil Contract holds the majority following recent parliamentary elections.
