Germany Reaffirms Support for Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Process
Germany reaffirms support for Armenia-Azerbaijan peace efforts
Germany has restated its commitment to Armenia-Azerbaijan peace efforts through a joint declaration on strategic bilateral partnership signed with Azerbaijan. The declaration acknowledges what it calls "historic momentum" in relations between the two countries, citing outcomes from the August 8, 2025 Washington Summit and subsequent normalization steps. According to the document, "The Federal Republic of Germany reiterates its full support for the efforts of the two countries aimed at achieving sustainable peace in the region." The declaration, part of a broader Germany-Azerbaijan strategic agenda, also reaffirms commitment to principles enshrined in the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, and the European Convention on Human Rights, among other international legal instruments promoting peace and security.
