EU Offers Tariff-Free Access for 80% of Armenian Exports

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a major trade and financial support package for Armenia during a visit to Yerevan. The EU will provide €52 million in immediate aid and propose tariff-free access for approximately 80% of Armenian exports to European markets. The measures aim to help Armenia diversify its trade amid economic pressures, particularly affecting sectors like fresh produce, beverages, and spirits that were previously exported to Russia. The EU will deploy trade experts to Armenia by mid-July to assist businesses in meeting EU standards and accessing the single market. The announcement comes after Armenia's recent general elections and reflects the EU's broader commitment to supporting regional stability and peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Total EU financial support for Armenia now reaches €288 million.
