EU offers Armenia €52M support and expanded trade access
PM Pashinyan welcomes €52 million EU support, proposed tariff-free access for Armenian exports
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan welcomed a €52 million European Union support package and a European Commission proposal to grant tariff-free access for approximately 80% of Armenia's exports to the EU.
Following a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Yerevan, Pashinyan described the EU as one of Armenia's most reliable partners and noted that the two are "closer than ever." The funds are intended to help Armenia diversify its economy and expand exports.
Under the proposed Autonomous Trade Measures, Armenia would become the first non-EU candidate country without a free trade agreement to benefit from the instrument. Pashinyan urged swift adoption by the European Parliament and Council of the European Union.
Discussions also covered economic diversification, connectivity initiatives, energy cooperation, digital technologies, and regional transport projects under the Crossroads of Peace framework.
