EU Commission President Reaffirms Support for Armenia
Ursula von der Leyen: Good to be back in Armenia so soon
Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, visited Yerevan to reaffirm the European Union's support for Armenia's democratic reforms and European integration. In remarks posted to social media, von der Leyen praised Armenia's recent parliamentary elections as evidence of democratic strength and noted the country's continued commitment to reform efforts.
"Armenia can count on us," von der Leyen said, adding a message in Armenian: "We are with you." She emphasized the EU's backing for Armenia's reform agenda and closer ties with Europe.
The visit marks von der Leyen's second trip to Armenia in recent months, following her attendance at the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan in May. High-level meetings with Armenian officials were scheduled during the visit.
