Asadour Santourian, Classical Music Administrator, Dies at 68
In memory of Asadour Santourian
Asadour Santourian, a prominent administrator in classical symphonic music, died peacefully on August 18 in Talent, Oregon, at age 68. Over several decades, Santourian worked with leading musicians and conductors to advance classical music. He mentored numerous Armenian artists, including conductor Aram Demirjian, vocalist Mane Galoyan, and violinists Sergey Khachaturyan and Diana Adamyan, among others.
Santourian immigrated to the United States from Beirut in 1969 at age 11, settling in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts. His father was a survivor of the Armenian Genocide. After graduating from Boston University, Santourian held positions across major music institutions in Los Angeles, Boston, Tanglewood, Aspen, and Rotterdam. He later relocated to Oregon, where he continued his work with the Rogue Valley Symphony. A karasoonk memorial service was held September 18 at St. Gregory Armenian Church in Massachusetts, followed by graveside services in Connecticut.
