Armenian American advocates push policy agenda on Capitol Hill

Armenian American advocates from more than 30 states visited every U.S. House and Senate office on September 14-15 during Strategic Advocacy 2026, a mobilization organized by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). Over 150 congressional meetings took place to advance a seven-point Armenian American policy agenda.

Key priorities included enforcement of Section 907, which bans U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan; release of Armenian hostages held in Baku; return of forcibly displaced Artsakh residents; sanctions against Azerbaijani officials for alleged war crimes; and Armenian Genocide education in U.S. schools. Advocates also called for congressional oversight of U.S. military sales to Turkey and protection of Jerusalem's Armenian Quarter.

The push follows the Trump administration's recent extension of a waiver on the Section 907 aid ban.
