Armenia Pursues Diversified Foreign Policy, Rejects Exclusivity
Armenia rejects โexclusiveโ alliances, will continue expanding strategic partnerships โ Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia will not choose between maintaining Russian relations and developing partnerships with Western nations and other global powers. Speaking at a press briefing, Pashinyan addressed Russian concerns over Yerevan's expanding international engagement, characterizing the issue as a fundamental disagreement over foreign policy strategy.
Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia's approach prioritizes diversification over exclusivity, noting the country has signed strategic partnership agreements with China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, and othersโa significant expansion from its historically limited partnership base.
According to Pashinyan, Russia views this diversification as problematic because Moscow expects relationships to be exclusive. Armenia's position, he stated, is that "relations do not have to be exclusive, but they should exist."
