Armenia's Foreign Ministry has categorically denied receiving any proposal from the European Union to establish a migrant detention center, according to spokesperson Ani Badalyan.

The denial came in response to a Euronews report stating that Italy is preparing to present a plan to EU interior ministers for creating return centers in safe third countries. Under the proposal, irregular migrants entering the EU would be transferred to these hubs while their asylum cases are processed.

Euronews reported that several countries were listed as potential hosts, including African nations like Uganda, Ghana, and Senegal, as well as Uzbekistan, Montenegro, and Armenia. The EU would fund the initiative, modeled on Italy's existing agreement with Albania.

Armenian officials stated no such discussions have taken place with Yerevan.
