Armenia and US Deepen Critical Minerals Cooperation
Armenia, US discuss cooperation on critical minerals and rare earths
Armenia and the United States have discussed expanding cooperation in the critical minerals and rare earth elements sector, according to Public Radio of Armenia.
Hovhannes Martirosyan, head of Armenia's Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body, met with Paul Hueper, director of the Office of Energy Supply Chains at the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Energy Resources, to explore deepening ties under a 2026 framework agreement.
Discussions covered geological data exchange, modern mapping technologies, mineral processing, and capacity building. Both sides addressed developing value-added processing capabilities and rehabilitating mining areas. They also emphasized strengthening institutional cooperation, sharing international best practices, and building professional expertise.
Participants reaffirmed commitment to strengthening regional and international supply chain resilience and ensuring access to critical minerals.
