Analysis: Pashinyan's Party Retains Majority in 2026 Election
The election Armenia’s opposition was not prepared to win

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party secured approximately 50% of votes in Armenia's June 7, 2026 parliamentary election, retaining its parliamentary majority despite widespread public dissatisfaction over national security and territorial losses following Artsakh's fall.
According to official Central Electoral Commission results, Civil Contract received 726,819 votes (49.75%) out of 1.48 million ballots cast, with a 58.9% turnout. The Strong Armenia Alliance finished second with 23.27%, while the Kocharyan-led Armenia bloc garnered 9.92%. Prosperous Armenia narrowly missed the 4% threshold with 3.99%.
The Armenian Weekly analysis argues the opposition's defeat was predictable, citing the incumbent's structural advantages, a fragmented opposition, and insufficient voter mobilization. Opposition representatives disputed the results, alleging irregularities in vote-counting cost Prosperous Armenia parliamentary representation by a razor-thin margin.
